Every stitch and every design I create carries a piece of my story. Shereedee Designs grew from my love of Country, my passion for sewing, and a deep desire to honour my culture through textiles. This is where my journey began.
Sewing as My First Creative Language ✂️
I first picked up sewing as a way to create for my family — making clothing that felt special, personal, and full of love. Over time, it became more than just a hobby. It became a way to slow down, connect, and express myself creatively.
What started with simple pieces at the kitchen table has grown into a studio practice, where I design everything from handmade children’s clothing to custom dresses. Sewing gave me back a part of myself and opened the door to something bigger: textile art.
My Love for Country 🌸
As a proud Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander woman with roots in Butchulla Country, nature has always been my guide. The eucalyptus leaves, gum blossoms, midyim berries, kangaroos, and even the tiny beetle trails hold stories worth telling.
I wanted to capture these elements in a way that others could hold onto, wear, and pass on. This love for Country naturally grew into my textile designs — where every motif is more than decoration, it’s a connection.
Discovering Digital Designs 💻
When I first started experimenting with digital art, I realised it could open new pathways for my creativity. Digital designs gave me the chance to turn sketches, paintings, and cultural inspirations into seamless fabric prints that anyone could use in their own making.
The joy of seeing my Bushland Botanicals and Bush Fairy Dreaming prints come to life on fabric has been indescribable. They carry stories and symbols of Country, yet are gentle enough for everyday use — on rompers, dresses, and accessories.
Why I Started Shereedee Designs 🌿
Shereedee Designs was born from a simple dream: to share my creativity, my culture, and my love for textiles in a way that supported my family and respected Country.
Through both ready-made handmade clothing and licensable digital fabric designs, I’ve built a space where story and art come together. It’s not just about fashion or fabric — it’s about identity, connection, and community.
Looking Forward ✨
This is just the beginning of my journey. With every new collection, I’m learning, growing, and finding new ways to celebrate the beauty of Country through textiles.
Thank you for walking this journey with me — whether you’re here for a handmade romper, a digital design to print, or simply to connect.
