Behind the Design
Listening to Country is a gentle tribute to the stories that live in the land, carried by the wings of birds and the rustle of native leaves. This design features beloved bush creatures — kookaburra, magpie, barn owl, and echidna — surrounded by soft foliage, wattle, and dreaming-inspired symbols that honour connection to Country.
The Aboriginal symbols scattered throughout this design — including meeting places and journey lines — speak of shared knowledge, movement, and the quiet wisdom passed from one generation to the next.
This piece is for our gulayi (children), reminding us that even the smallest footsteps can listen deeply, walk gently, and carry stories of Country forward.
The Print
The Listening to Country print is a seamless balance of fauna, flora, and cultural symbolism. The bush creatures are drawn with warmth and detail, nestled among wattle sprigs and native leaves. Dreaming-inspired motifs connect the elements, creating flow and movement across the fabric. Designed to repeat harmoniously, the print invites storytelling with every use — whether in children’s clothing, nursery décor, or cherished handmade keepsakes.
The Colourway
Drawn from blooming banksias and the golden glow of dry-season light. Radiant and grounding, this colourway brings warmth and strength.
